1988年、『The Ragged Child』で映画デビュー。舞台でも活躍し、トニー賞助演男優賞にもノミネートされた。1999年の『リプリー』で注目を集め、アカデミー助演男優賞にノミネートされる。美貌と演技力を兼ね備えた人気俳優の一人。
